Mathematics

Students will come to realise as they enter secondary school, that the scope of Mathematics taught differs quite a bit from PSLE. Some will rejoice, some will lament. 

 

Either way, learning Mathematics at lower secondary level can be a joyful journey where you build a solid foundation and get in the right gear for upper secondary Elementary and Additional Mathematics! 

Here at TLM, you can:

How are lessons conducted? 

  • 2 hour sessions

  • Individually paced 

  • For each chapter, 

        1) Assess knowledge and skills 

        2) Learn and understand 

        3) Practise and apply 

        4) Ask and clarify doubts

  • Practice questions from beginner to advanced level. Quizzes will be given for each topic to test students on their competency.  

  • We will help you prepare well for every common test and exam 

Science 

Lower Secondary Science introduces students to the 3 fields in Science namely Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students will be taught Introductory topics to the respective fields such as Density(Physics), Atoms and Molecules(Chemistry), and Cells (Biology).

 

Lower secondary science is sometimes confusing to students as they find it hard to even differentiate which science is which. It feels like a mish-mash to them and before they can grapple with one topic, they are hurried off to the next.

 

When students have a good foundation in lower secondary, it will help them have a better understanding of the introductory topics in Secondary 3. 

     

Here at TLM, you can: 

  • Have better clarity and deeper understanding of Science topics 

  • Know exactly what each chapter is about and the knowledge/application that are commonly tested 

  • Be taught answering techniques and keywords for structured questions 

  • Be competent in answering MCQ questions

  • 2 hour sessions 

  • Individually paced according to your school topic, whether its Physics, Chemistry or Biology. 

  • For each chapter,

  • Taught in a progressive manner, throughly covering every chapter. 

  • Students will practise on both MCQ and structured questions. 

English

Lower secondary English syllabus : 

  • Editing 

  • Formal/Informal Writing 

  • Essay Writing 

  • Visual Text 

  • Comprehension

  • Oral 

  • Listening Comprehension

The English language is a multifaceted subject. Students need to have a good foundation in Grammar from Primary school, an extensive vocabulary and good writing skills to be fully confident in this subject. Unfortunately, not many students have a strong foundation in English due to the lack of good reading habits and guidance in writing skills.  

     

Here at TLM, you can: 

  • Build up on your Grammar and Vocabulary through simulating sessions that are interactive and engaging.

  • Practise on your Oral skills and discuss common topics  

  • Be clear on the structure of formal and informal writing

  • Learn how to write narrative, argumentative and descriptive essays 

  • Learn Summary writing skills 

  • Develop a keen interest in the Language! 

 

How are lessons conducted? 

  • 2 hour sessions 

  • Lessons will rotate among Grammar and Vocabulary Building, Oral Practices, Comprehension and Editing practices, and Essay Writing 

  • Practices are allocated according to individual standards 

  • Students will be tasked with presentations to gain confidence in presenting ideas, voicing opinions and putting their thoughts in words

  • Recommended reading list for students
